The Joslyn Art Museum

About The Joslyn Art Museum

The Joslyn Art Museum opened its doors to the public in 1931 as the Society of Liberal Arts. The museum was founded by Sarah H. Joslyn in memory of her husband, businessman George A. Joslyn. Since then, the museum’s permanent collection has grown to include more than 11,000 works of art representing artists and cultures of all eras.

Unfortunately, as of 2022 the museum temporarily closed its doors to the public for construction and renovation. They are set to resume museum operations in 2024 with new galleries, more usable public spaces, and many upgraded features.

The museum is home to Thomas Hart Benton’s The Hailstorm (1940).
