About the Princeton University Art Museum

Formally established in 1882, along with Princeton’s art history program, the Princeton University Art Museum is one of the world’s most comprehensive museums tied to a university. The museum and curriculum were designed to provide direct access to the artwork for students, enabling an unprecedented connection to both theory and practice.

Within the Princeton University Art Museum are 13 works of art by Thomas Hart Bention, including The Boy, Baptism, Threshing Scene, Pussycat and Roses, Shallow Creek, Frankie and Johnnie, Huck Finn, Planting, Jesse James, After the Blow, Goin’ Home, and Approaching Storm.
